1. We have been talking about how using "said" is boring. Do the worksheet on "A Better Word" which helps you impliment another word rather than "said."

Holy cow. I am sorry for not putting up homework over the past week. Between the Code Green last week and the days off this week, I forgot to type things in. Anyways,
1. As always, you should be reading your AR book for about 30 minutes or so to keep up with your points and getting your books done on /in time. On Monday we will find out what the points look like for each homeroom.
2. Your Outsiders Poster Project is due tomorrow. Be sure to follow the guidelines on the bottom of the assignment.
Wednesday, November 5
1. Please have your Term 2 AR contract signed by Friday.
2. Read for 30 minutes.
3. Workbook pages 143-144 on Action and Linking verbs
4. Vocab test on Friday on List 3
5. Work on your Outsiders Poster Project. This is due on Friday, November 14
Monday, October 27
1. Do 2 Activities for the new list of Vocabulary Words (List #3). Both are due Friday.

1. In your WORKBOOK, pgs. 129-130 on Pronouns and Antecedents. This is due tomorrow on the 15th.
2. The Outsiders, CONFLICT worksheet. Please finish numbers 4-7 by Thursday. This will be a graded homework assignment.
3. As always, please continue to read your AR books for Term 1.

The homework is the same as yesterday. Also, don't forget to be reading a little bit every night. Your 2 AR/SSR books are to be finished by October 31 and AR tests must have been taken.

Sorry about not having the homework up a few days last week. I was having difficulty getting online. Now I am up and running again.
1. There is a Vocabulary test on this Friday, October 10. It is on LIST #2. The words are as follows: fragile, vast, swagger, vivid, soothe, glutton, irate, prompt, dictator, intoxicated BONUS: palatial and omen
2. You have to answer 4 essay questions about The Outsiders. You received a paper today in class that has 13 questions on it and you must choose 4 to respond to. It is a graded assignment and it is due on Tuesday, October 14.

Today you received your workbooks for Editing practice. Please do pages 121 and 122 on Common and Proper nouns. This should be a review and not take very long to do.
Monday, September 29
Finish your Parts of Speech Activity. We will put it together in class if necessary.
If you are done with that, you can always do independent reading. You have 2 AR books that need to be done by October 31 and tomorrow is midterm.

1. The Outsiders worksheet is for homework: Just Picture It. It is about characterization and it is due on Friday, Sept. 26.

1. Have SSR paper signed if you haven't done that yet.
2. Start working on you Parts of Speech Activity. Choose 5 of your pictures and write down the nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs that you see in them. A more detailed description of the directions is on your blue assignment paper. THIS IS DUE WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 24.
3. You should be starting to read your AR book for Term 1. This is a given every night. You need to get 2 completed before Term 1 is over AND you must have taken the AR test on it as well.

1. Please get your SSR paper signed for Monday.
2. Find and cut out 10 different pictures from magazines, catalogs, fliers, newspapers or the internet.
3.We are going to the library for book selection on Monday.
Homework for Monday, September 15
We are starting The Outsiders (by S.E. Hinton) this week and you need to read the sheet about the author (front and back) and then answer the questions about the reading. This is due on Wednesday.
Also on Wed., we will be having our first Vocabulary test. Be sure to review the LIST 1 words. They are also found below.
Tomorrow we will be in the library taking the STAR Reading and STAR Math tests.
Hey everyone!! Sorry it took so long to put up the homework. I have to be honest, sometimes I forget to list it at the end of the day. Things can get busy and hectic every once in awhile and I am apologizing in advance for any future confusions. Please try to remember daily to write in your agenda so you always know what to be doing each night.
Homework for Friday, September 12
Everyone got a list of Vocabulary Activities in class this week. Over the weekend I want you to choose one of the activities and try it out. This will be due on Monday. There are 8 choices and we already did #1, so please choose something else.
The Vocabulary Test for List 1 will be on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Please be sure to study carefully. The test will have 10 matching (words and definitions) and it will be followed by a mini-story that needs you to fill in the blanks. There will be a word bank.
Also, coming up on Tuesday, my classes will be taking both the Star Reader and Math tests in the library. Hopefully by the end of next week we can all start to delve into a great book for the independent part of our reading program!!!!
